Shoemaking Scraps

I confess.

It's true.

PK and I had our first fight BUT hey, she started it.

Yes, she did. Now I'm certain that she'll bust in here or post on her own site where she'll try to fill your head with lies but remember... you heard it here first. You heard the TRUTH here first!!

Now it's no big deal to tell you all that last week we spent time in Colonial Williamsburg touring the sites there. If you were there and saw two women in matching T-shirts then yup, that sure was us. It was a blast and we got along wonderfully.

Well, that is up until the fight.

Remember. She started it.

Here's what happened:

We went to watch the shoe makers do their thing. It was quite fascinating to listen to them talk about how the shoes of the era were made.

Then and now only the finest leather was/is used.

Did someone say LEATHER?

PK and I looked at each other with that knowing look as one of the shoemakers took a razor to a BEAUTIFUL piece of hide. He cut out a perfect soul for the bottom of a shoe and then picked the scrap up in his hand.

Picture it. A long strip of leather dangling from his hand. It just hung there while he talked. PK and I had to be thinking the same thing: We wondered what became of all that lovely scrap leather. Her eyes were twinkling so I KNEW that she was thinking the EXACT same way that I was.

As we turned back to the shoemaker after looking at one another it was then that it happened.

No. Not our first fight. That came later.

What happened then caused me to gasp and nearly choke in disbelief. I can't be too sure but I do believe that PK was in the same state of mind and physical choking status at that moment in time.

Would you believe that as this shoemaker man talked with us he nonchalantly threw that beautiful scrap of leather out the window that you see in the above picture??

I was STUNNED. I mean what a waste!!!

As we left the shoemaker's shop we talked of the pity it was to waste such good leather. I mean, surely it's got to be good for SOMETHING.

It was about then that PK and I came up with the idea that if we could make our way around to the back of that shoemakers shop then we could retrieve that lovely leather for our very own from underneath the window it was tossed through.

The men followed. We came upon a gate and for a split second I gave up hope thinking it would be locked and that there'd be no way we could get to the leather. I mean it was no secret they didn't want us going around there anyhow.

PK tried the gate. It opened and we slipped on through.

That's when the fight happened.

I had seen that scrap of leather first when he tossed it out the window and felt certain that it rightfully belonged to me. My twin however had the audacity to think it was HERS. Not wanting to cause a scene and get us into trouble I let her take the lovely scrap while I settled for a few mere morsels of leather. Although they smell quite leathery lovely they don't have the spanking potential that the big piece that PK got had.

Okay so I'm kidding.

It's true. We did go around back and gather up the scraps worth gathering that the shoemakers tossed through the window. I mean, wouldn't you? Free leather? What I'm kidding about is us fighting. On the contrary we giggled like a couple of fifth graders at a slumber party. Our scraps were quite lovely although - and this is the sad, sad truth - PK's dog ate hers. Somehow he got into the bag she'd placed hers in and ... well.... you know how dogs are!!

I thought about sending her some of my scraps. I have enough to share however I think she got what she deserved for hogging up the best pieces.

So there you have one vacation story. We stole leather. Then again is it possible to steal what another has trashed?

A Small Taste of Our Trip

Happy Saturday, Everyone!!

Adam and I are on the second leg of our journey.

At the moment our daughter is in the shower. When she's ready, we're heading out to spend the day with her. It's nice to get an unexpected weekend with her at this time of year. That typically does not happen.

I gotta tell you... I had a BLAST with my twin. It was such a nice, fine, relaxing, fun, enjoyable time. We laugh at the stupidest stuff and EVERYTHING seems to come back to spanking which - of course - makes us giggle.

And we talk. We never run out of things to say. It's amazing. You know it's a great friendship when the visit comes to an end and you already can't wait till "next time."

And yes, we already have a few "next times" planned.

Oh, and I know you all want to hear about this!!! I saw PK get spanked a number of times.... and heard it much more. It was nothing to walk down the hall of the hotel with them and hear a CRACK. Hehehehehe

And at the pool? Nick got her good with the towel a few times. If she wasn't so rebellious against him he wouldn't have to continually keep her in line. You know?

But you can't tell her that. She just seems to not hear you when you try.... or at least that's how it was with me. She just wasn't hearing me so I suppose that is to be her fate... to spend the rest of her life being whacked by Nick... even in public!! Even with friends around!!!

We (me and PK) did have a few "what would Cassie do?" conversations. We tried to think of ways to go off and get ourselves into trouble but in the end we just couldn't come up with anything and even more importantly I was afraid if we ditched the boys that we'd get lost!!!

Well, I think my daughter is about ready to go so we're going to head out of here and get this day started.

Having a Blast

Wow ya'all!! (I'm in the south..... gotta at least try to sound southern here or they will hurt you)

I'm in a hotel room with Adam right now and PK and Nick are RIGHT NEXT DOOR.

Now before you go asking me if I heard any noise coming from their room last night, I gotta tell you this: I CRASHED. We got up at 4:15 yesterday morning. Left the house about 5:20 and then arrived at our destination about 2:20. We was some sites, went to dinner and then came back to the hotel and relaxed a bit.

When Adam and I returned to our own room, I fell into bed and died.

I did want you all to be the first to know though, Adam and I were up EARLY this morning.

Hehehehe....

My guess is that PK never heard a thing and you know what's even funnier? You all are gonna know that Adam and I had play time before PK knows about it.

hehehehehehehe......

And Paul, btw, I gave PK that "kiss" for ya!!!

And she knew it!!!

We're going to breakfast here in a bit then running around all day.

In the meantime, I snapped this picture in a gift shop yesterday because I thought you all would like to see what PK and I REALLY look like....

It's Almost Time

It won't be long until Adam and I are with PK and Nick. Can you believe it? This will be the 4th time we've managed to get together since last June and I couldn't be happier. I always thought long distance friendship like this would be hard but not with PK.

We have such an ongoing relationship that there's never an awkward moment.... just lots of fun. And even when we're serious... or quiet.... it's not awkward. PK did tell me though that I had to wear clothes because it would be awkward if I didn't.

Let me explain. We were discussing clothes. PK and I neither one are "girly girls" but I have however developed a bit more of an interest in clothing since my weight loss. Like a friend who also lost weight said to me recently, "It's fun to buy clothes when Omar the tent maker is no longer making them for us."

True dat.

Anyhow, I was half tormenting PK about my clothes when she said she didn't care what I wore, that I could even show up naked. She back pedaled quickly by saying I had to wear something, that my nakedness would just be awkward.

True dat, too.

Anyhow, Adam and I are pretty well packed except for the few last minute things that we won't pack until the last minute... which is why I referred to them as last minute things. Anythow....We'll be gone from Tuesday morning until late Sunday afternoon. It's going to be a nice get away. Where we are going is not important. Being together is.

I hope our rooms at the hotel are right next to each other. That way if I hear any noise that sounds like PK getting her bottom burned, I'll be able to let you know and give you the details.

Speaking of PK getting her bottom burned, Adam and I were in the back yard today playing with the pup. No, it wasn't really warm enough but we were out there anyhow. After the pup tired out we were picking up some sticks and branches that the winter months have brought down from the trees. Adam threatened me with a few switches. They looked stingy and whippy so we decided to NOT use them on me but to take one to PK and Nick.

Wasn't that thoughtful of us?

Oh, yeah... one more thing.....

A New Post

Let's see...

What's new?

Two more days of work and then I'm off for TEN wonderful days.

Squeezing a road trip in. Spending a few days with PK and then a few days with offspring #1.

Life's been kind of busy but nothing worth blogging about.

Gas prices are crap.

The men on American Idol are better than the women.

I LIKE Amanda Overymeyer. Why in the world did she get picked for votefortheworst.com?

For the first time ever I've been following Biggest Loser. Wow.The loss has been amazing to watch.

I actually saw a new number on the scales this morning: 165 but won't change the ticker just yet. I am honestly wondering if I'll get this last 8 or 9 pounds off? I guess I don't really care as long as I don't gain. I don't want to gain. I don't ever want to go back.

Is it spring yet? Considering my area got hit with a fierce snow storm just less than 2 weeks ago I'm happy to just not have snow on the roads. Even better is that it's almost gone from the ground. It's taking a while for some of the big piles to melt. Fingers crossed that we don't get anymore this year.

I need more chicken and dumplings. Adam volunteered me to make some for a young couple with a new baby on Friday so I'll make a huge batch again when I make it for them.

So do you know what PK said? She said that she's so excited to see us that she wants to hold hands and skip.

Excuse me?

I told her that yes, I'd hold her hand but I am NOT skipping. I have to maintain a certain level of dignity doncha know?

So what's this about Grace and some hotel suite or something?

Well good for her.

Okay.... let's call it a post.

Bye!!!

Cooking With Eva

We are snowed in. Most churches in our area - including our own - have canceled church today.

We slept in. I'm enjoying the time with Adam.

I'm cooking quite a bit even though I can't eat much of what I have made this weekend. Later today our daughter and son in law are coming for dinner. Hopefully the roads will be cleared enough for them to make the 7.5 mile drive. I am making their favorite - ribs. Along with that we'll have some green beans, applesauce, and potato salad. Oh, and I'll be baking some biscuits too. I baked Adam's favorite cake. It's from scratch. No box mix for this baby. Wanna see a picture? It's a red velvet cake but you can probably tell that from the picture.

So I know.... it's a bit sloppy looking. Would you believe me if I said it's SUPPOSED to look that way? I'm hoping to eat three bites ... three SMALL bites of it just for memory's sake. It's been a while since I made one of these.

With the good dinner and the red cake with ice cream today is a celebration. Both Adam and our son in law have birthdays this week.

Oh, and I'm working on a batch of chicken and dumplings, too. We have company coming Tuesday night and I've promised this to them. Seeing as this is a dish you don't want to rush and also it's better the second time around anyhow, I'm making it today. I'll keep it in the fridge till Tuesday morning. Then I'll put it into the crockpot on low all day. It will be perfect by then. I have a picture of this to show you. I made this batch a couple weeks ago. I took a picture of it to torment PK with. Now I guess I can torment you all, too.

Yum. Trust me, this dish is to die for if you are a chicken and dumplings fan... which I am.
