Stuffed Peppers and Male Coworkers
So a few weeks ago a male coworker helped me eat my lunch. I had made stuffed peppers the night before and he was drooling over them. He talked of his grandmother and how she had made them. He talked of how they are an absolute favorite dish of his. When I could only eat half of what was in my lunch I offered the remaining to him instead of saving them for the next day.
He fed my chef ego when he raved of how similar to his grandmother's my stuffed pepper tasted.
Over the weekend, I again made them. There is so much that Adam and I had them for dinner Saturday, Sunday and will have them tonight. I took some for lunch today also. I've also promised MC (male co-worker) that I would bring some for him tomorrow. That should about finish them off.
Today when I sat down to eat he took one look and realized I'd once again made his favorite. His exact first words to me in the staff lunch room were "If you were a guy I'd beat your ass and take that from you."
Before promising him some for tomorrow though I had to think of a quick response to that remark.
We're going to take a poll. I am wondering how you all think I responded to MC.

A Question For Cassie
I have a question for Cassie.
Actually it's for anyone who can answer me but I know for sure that she can.
As you know, Adam and I have been on a lot of road trips lately.
In the past two months we've been down south, up north, and down south two more times. We've seen lots of gorgeous fall leaves.
Also as you know, on our most recent road trip we made it down to the last 30 minutes of the trip and crashed into a deer. Forty two hundred dollars later we'll soon have a good as new vehicle. Thank God for good insurance.
Anyhow, all that has nothing to do with my question.
We've noticed that our jeep with its vertical windshield is quite the bug and/or bird crap magnet.
Every time we stop for gas we have to wash the windshield which is so disgusting you can't hardly see through it.
Within 5 miles after washing it - guaranteed - it will be covered again.
So my question for Cassie is this:
How in the hell can you do a freeway in a convertible?
Just askin' is all.
One more thing....

Putting a Finger on It
It's been a week since the deer accident. All is well... at least it should be soon.
Adam's jeep will require over four thousand dollars worth of repairs. Yes, we have good insurance. In the meantime he's driving a nice new one of these:
It's nice and all but I think he misses his jeep. It should be done in another week or so... at least that's what "they" say.
Offspring #3 got a job. She starts day after tomorrow. Good thing, too, since she has things like rent and utilities to pay now.
Fall is here. I love it. The leaves are beautiful. The air is cool and crisp. Soups and other comfort foods taste wonderful.
If only winter didn't have to follow!!!
Have I ever mentioned how much I hate winter? I do, you know. It's cold and the snow slows me way down. It can be frustrating.
At least there's always another spring.
My weight is still good. I've gained a few pounds since I went back to work two months ago but it's all about off again. It's nice to be able to eat real food again but I do have to watch.
Let's see... what else is new?
No spanking.
No sex.
I can't quite put my finger on it but I just don't care. I've even thought about shutting this blog down...
... or abandoning it....
But there's a lot of me here so that won't happen.
It's just....
well I've given up on ever taking it back to the aspect of spanking. It's just not in me right now. I kept thinking it would return ... that feeling ... you know the one.
It hasn't.
Sigh.
And I've quit expecting it to. The nest is empty though so who knows. Maybe one of these days. Truth of the matter is though Adam and I are somewhat disconnected these days. He's busy with work and when he is home that's mostly what we talk about... his work... or mine.
It's amazing how you can be married as long as we have... know someone as well as we know each other but not be able to put your finger on what's missing.
I guess it's hard to figure out what's missing when it doesn't feel all that wrong.
So how about the election?
Okay.. okay we won't go there but you have to admit that some of it is quite entertaining...
Sarah Palin...
Tina Fey...
Joe the plumber....
I don't know about you other U.S. of A. citizens but I'll be glad when the election is over. It's getting old....
I saw a sign someone taped to his mini van. It said, "Mama, mama... save me from Obama."
Geeze.
He's not THAT scary.
I kind of like the guy. I like Palin too. Guess we can't have them both, huh?
Remember last year when I was whining about the foo-foo affair that Adam made me go to?
It's that time again.
I got a dress.
It's red.
And glittery.
Ummmmm... you gotta understand.. I don't DO dresses. This is out of my comfort zone as much this year as it was last year. Although I will say that last year turned out to be a not so bad time so I am not dreading it this year quite as badly as I did last year.
OH!!!! And my granddaughter will be here before we know it.
I got to hold a tiny tiny tiny new baby today. It felt good. I can't wait till we have our own.
And yup.. they have named her already. I know that could change however they had her name embroidered onto a blanket so I guess they are pretty sure about this.
How's the gas prices in your neck of the woods? I saw it all over town today for $2.58. I'll take it!!! The lower it goes, the better... at least for my wallet. I know, I know.. it's not necessarily good news for the economy.
Sigh.
So that's the highlights of my life these days... nothing too exciting... just normal life.
Hope your world is peaceful!!!

There's a Saying.....
It goes like this...
Life's a bitch.
And then....
You die.
Well okay maybe it's really not THAT bad but let me tell you about the bitch of a 24 hours Adam and I have had.
This weekend we moved offspring #3 about 325 miles from home. She and a roomie found a nice little place and have jobs lined up to pay for it. We left yesterday about 1 in the afternoon for what we thought would be a 7 hour drive home.
HA!!
First off, we got caught in a traffic jam between two tunnels that set us back 90 minutes. That sucked. The same spot set us back three hours a year ago so we were at least thankful that it wasn't that bad.
But then.....
Well here....
See for yourself...
We were about 30 minutes from home when we got caught up in this mess.....
That's a dead deer under Adam's new Jeep. We've owned it 4 months.
Effin' deer.
He was a buck. Had one antler left when they pulled the vehicle off him.
We were about 30 minutes from home. We almost made it. Dang deer was standing in the middle of the highway. There was hardly any traffic. Very dark.
I saw him first and yelled at Adam to not hit him.
If he (the deer) had just continued to stay still we would have passed around his ass end. But nnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... freakin' thing did a U-turn and ran right into our path.
We have no idea how much the damage will be.
The tow truck driver gave us a ride to town. This morning I called off work. So did Adam. He ended up going in later but I didn't bother.
Here's the salt on the wound....
My car is 5 years old. I've owned it 4 of those years. It has never and I mean NEVER not once let me down... until this morning. We were headed out to take the Jeep key to the body shop when my stinking car would NOT start. Battery.
Got it going and then the hood wouldn't close....
I've had a burned out turn signal for about 2 weeks now. So $200 later I have a new battery, a new hood latch and a working turn signal.
Adam? He has a rental.
I can only pray that our insurance doesn't jack our rates or drop us.
Sigh.
Oh, and if you scroll back up and look closely... those are deployed airbags. If you've ever experienced that, it sucks. The vehicle filled with what I thought was smoke and we both thought Bambi's dad (Grace named him that) was coming through our windshield. Adam is still coughing like crazy from inhaling it.. whatever it was.. and it is still annoying my throat.
So yup... life's a bitch but really, I'm not ready to die yet.
So the good news is that the nest is empty again finally.
Who knows, maybe I will find my libido lurking around here somewhere.
