I have a question for Cassie.
Actually it's for anyone who can answer me but I know for sure that she can.
As you know, Adam and I have been on a lot of road trips lately.
In the past two months we've been down south, up north, and down south two more times. We've seen lots of gorgeous fall leaves.
Also as you know, on our most recent road trip we made it down to the last 30 minutes of the trip and crashed into a deer. Forty two hundred dollars later we'll soon have a good as new vehicle. Thank God for good insurance.
Anyhow, all that has nothing to do with my question.
We've noticed that our jeep with its vertical windshield is quite the bug and/or bird crap magnet.
Every time we stop for gas we have to wash the windshield which is so disgusting you can't hardly see through it.
Within 5 miles after washing it - guaranteed - it will be covered again.
So my question for Cassie is this:
How in the hell can you do a freeway in a convertible?
Just askin' is all.
One more thing....
Just look at this face..........................
I think she looks like me!!!!

It's been a week since the deer accident. All is well... at least it should be soon.
Adam's jeep will require over four thousand dollars worth of repairs. Yes, we have good insurance. In the meantime he's driving a nice new one of these:
It's nice and all but I think he misses his jeep. It should be done in another week or so... at least that's what "they" say.
Offspring #3 got a job. She starts day after tomorrow. Good thing, too, since she has things like rent and utilities to pay now.
Fall is here. I love it. The leaves are beautiful. The air is cool and crisp. Soups and other comfort foods taste wonderful.
If only winter didn't have to follow!!!
Have I ever mentioned how much I hate winter? I do, you know. It's cold and the snow slows me way down. It can be frustrating.
At least there's always another spring.
My weight is still good. I've gained a few pounds since I went back to work two months ago but it's all about off again. It's nice to be able to eat real food again but I do have to watch.
Let's see... what else is new?
No spanking.
No sex.
I can't quite put my finger on it but I just don't care. I've even thought about shutting this blog down...
... or abandoning it....
But there's a lot of me here so that won't happen.
It's just....
well I've given up on ever taking it back to the aspect of spanking. It's just not in me right now. I kept thinking it would return ... that feeling ... you know the one.
It hasn't.
Sigh.
And I've quit expecting it to. The nest is empty though so who knows. Maybe one of these days. Truth of the matter is though Adam and I are somewhat disconnected these days. He's busy with work and when he is home that's mostly what we talk about... his work... or mine.
It's amazing how you can be married as long as we have... know someone as well as we know each other but not be able to put your finger on what's missing.
I guess it's hard to figure out what's missing when it doesn't feel all that wrong.
So how about the election?
Okay.. okay we won't go there but you have to admit that some of it is quite entertaining...
Sarah Palin...
Tina Fey...
Joe the plumber....
I don't know about you other U.S. of A. citizens but I'll be glad when the election is over. It's getting old....
I saw a sign someone taped to his mini van. It said, "Mama, mama... save me from Obama."
Geeze.
He's not THAT scary.
I kind of like the guy. I like Palin too. Guess we can't have them both, huh?
Remember last year when I was whining about the foo-foo affair that Adam made me go to?
It's that time again.
I got a dress.
It's red.
And glittery.
Ummmmm... you gotta understand.. I don't DO dresses. This is out of my comfort zone as much this year as it was last year. Although I will say that last year turned out to be a not so bad time so I am not dreading it this year quite as badly as I did last year.
OH!!!! And my granddaughter will be here before we know it.
I got to hold a tiny tiny tiny new baby today. It felt good. I can't wait till we have our own.
And yup.. they have named her already. I know that could change however they had her name embroidered onto a blanket so I guess they are pretty sure about this.
How's the gas prices in your neck of the woods? I saw it all over town today for $2.58. I'll take it!!! The lower it goes, the better... at least for my wallet. I know, I know.. it's not necessarily good news for the economy.
Sigh.
So that's the highlights of my life these days... nothing too exciting... just normal life.
Hope your world is peaceful!!!
It goes like this...
Life's a bitch.
And then....
You die.
Well okay maybe it's really not THAT bad but let me tell you about the bitch of a 24 hours Adam and I have had.
This weekend we moved offspring #3 about 325 miles from home. She and a roomie found a nice little place and have jobs lined up to pay for it. We left yesterday about 1 in the afternoon for what we thought would be a 7 hour drive home.
HA!!
First off, we got caught in a traffic jam between two tunnels that set us back 90 minutes. That sucked. The same spot set us back three hours a year ago so we were at least thankful that it wasn't that bad.
But then.....
Well here....
See for yourself...
We were about 30 minutes from home when we got caught up in this mess.....
That's a dead deer under Adam's new Jeep. We've owned it 4 months.
Effin' deer.
He was a buck. Had one antler left when they pulled the vehicle off him.
We were about 30 minutes from home. We almost made it. Dang deer was standing in the middle of the highway. There was hardly any traffic. Very dark.
I saw him first and yelled at Adam to not hit him.
If he (the deer) had just continued to stay still we would have passed around his ass end. But nnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... freakin' thing did a U-turn and ran right into our path.
We have no idea how much the damage will be.
The tow truck driver gave us a ride to town. This morning I called off work. So did Adam. He ended up going in later but I didn't bother.
Here's the salt on the wound....
My car is 5 years old. I've owned it 4 of those years. It has never and I mean NEVER not once let me down... until this morning. We were headed out to take the Jeep key to the body shop when my stinking car would NOT start. Battery.
Got it going and then the hood wouldn't close....
I've had a burned out turn signal for about 2 weeks now. So $200 later I have a new battery, a new hood latch and a working turn signal.
Adam? He has a rental.
I can only pray that our insurance doesn't jack our rates or drop us.
Sigh.
Oh, and if you scroll back up and look closely... those are deployed airbags. If you've ever experienced that, it sucks. The vehicle filled with what I thought was smoke and we both thought Bambi's dad (Grace named him that) was coming through our windshield. Adam is still coughing like crazy from inhaling it.. whatever it was.. and it is still annoying my throat.
So yup... life's a bitch but really, I'm not ready to die yet.
So the good news is that the nest is empty again finally.
Who knows, maybe I will find my libido lurking around here somewhere.
No, the baby isn't here yet. My daughter isn't due till mid to late January. She had an ultrasound on Thursday. They were excited knowing they were finally going to learn the sex of the baby.
The little booger was twisted in a way that the thingity was well hidden. That was a bummer but what was worse was being told the baby has enlarged kidneys.
The next day they went to a larger medical establishment for a more serious ultra-sound. THAT was when they learned that my grandson is really my grandDAUGHTER. After three offspring of the female gender, I must admit a boy was my first choice. Now that we know it's a girl, I've realized that's EXACTLY what I wanted afterall. IOW, it just doesn't matter.
The kidney issue is a mild concern. It could signify many things such as non-functioning kidneys or Down's Syndrome. It - most likely - however means nothing.
I'm sure she's fine. We're not too worried. Next month when there's another ultrasound they will hopefully tell us everything is just fine.
Offspring #3 has found a job and is moving out in two weeks. Yes, I know. It's what I've been waiting for HOWEVER it's rather far away and doesn't pay much. She'll have a roommate though so hopefully everything will work out just fine.
The pup has a bad spot on his leg. He keeps chewing it and has the fur gnawed off. We got some hydro cortisone doggy stuff but he's still chewing on it. Any helpful hints would be appreciated.
So maybe just maybe when we get back to an empty nest we'll get back to normal here. You know. Normal. Honestly though at this moment in time I'm still not interested. Having an adult child living here has sure killed the libido. I am hoping that having the house back to ourselves will help us get back to normal. I miss NORMAL.
Anyhow...I realized I wasn't real clear on the girl thing and wanted to make sure you all know that nope, it's not January yet.
I stole this from my twin who stole it from Padme who stole it from..............
If your ex REALLY needed you at 3 am, would you go to his/her house?
If I had an ex I do not imagine that I would go running if he called.
When was the last time you wanted to punch someone in their face?
See... I have this coworker..... she's always saying stuff to piss me off and there have been times when even though it was a fleeting feeling, I could have bitch slapped her in a heartbeat. Yup. I've got a not so nice side to me but you probably knew that, huh?
What are the last three things you spent money on?
Popcorn, Gas, Coffee from shoffee.com.
What was the last thing you cried about?
Gosh... honest... I don't remember.
Could you go a day without eating?
Yes but it wouldn't be very wise.
Have you ever kissed anyone whose name started with a J?
I sure have.
Do you smoke weed regularly?
Ummmm.... NO. Never have, either.
Has anyone ever told you they're in love with you?
Yes.
When was the last time you were disappointed?
When summer ended.
Has a girl ever seriously punched you?
Nope but one slapped me across the face which was unbelievable. Psycho.
What was the last thing you put in your mouth?
Popcorn.
Have you kissed two different people in one night?
If you mean other than my kids, no.
How easy is it for others to make you feel awkward?
Not at all. I'm usually pretty much oblivious and don't even realize that I should feel awkward.
Are you taller than 5'4"?
As a matter of fact, I'm 5'7 1/2". The nurse at my surgeons office recently said to me, "I know we didn't stretch you but I don't remember you being this tall."
In the past week have you felt stupid?
I teach. It makes me feel smart.
What's the age difference between you and the last person you kissed?
Fourteen months
Have you ever been outside completely naked?
Yup. I was two!
What would happen if you had a baby with the last person you kissed?
I would get my name into Guinness book of records!
Who did you text the most yesterday?
Offspring #2.
What were you doing at 10pm Friday night?
I was enjoying the company of some wonderful folks at their home in Michigan.
What are your plans for today?
Day's done. Time to sleep. Tomorrow, however, after work I have a union meeting and a birthday party for a coworker.
Could you go the rest of your life without smoking cigarette?
Gosh, I hope so. It's been 3 years and 6 months since I broke my 2-3 pack a day habit. I don't wanna go back to that, ever.
What was the last reason you went to the doctor for?
Gastric bypass/hernia surgery check up.
What is the last thing you yelled aloud?
"STAY IN YOUR SEAT TILL THE BELL RINGS!"
What do you think of when you think of Australia?
The Sydney Opera House
Do you have any gay/lesbian friends?
Yup. Why do you want to know?
Have you ever kissed the last person you text?
Yup.
What's one action you do when you're really nervous?
Say stupid stuff.
Would you rather give up the computer or the TV?
Easy. TV.
Do you find yourself saying mean things to people over the internet that you wouldn't say to their face?
Nope, I have no problem saying them to their face.
One word that explains perfectly how you feel at the moment?
Tired.
What did the last text message you received say?
That would require me finding my phone and looking. I'm too comfortable on the couch right now with the pup keeping my feet warm.
Do you care if people hate you for no reason?
Yup. It makes me uneasy.
How hard is your life right now?
My life is normal. Has its ups, down, good times, bad times. Who would I be to complain?
Have you ever taken anyone for granted?
I try not to but am sure I have.
Cassie, I'm with my twin... you're one of the brightest spots out here! I love all that you are, all that you have been, all that you will be. I love what you've given to all of us out here... humor, sanity, wisdom.
Hope you have the best birthday ever!!!
There's just not much new to report.
Work is going very well. I'm actually glad to be back into the routine.
Adam is doing well after all scare he gave me in the spring.
I have a joint mouse in my elbow. Yup. You heard me right. I have a joint mouse.
Wanna know what that is? It's simply a bone fragment or perhaps a piece of cartilage which has worked its way into the joint. As a result, I can't straighten my arm beyond about 120 degrees. I also can't bend it beyond about 80 degrees.
There's some pain involved but mostly it must locks up at those points. If you think it's not a big deal, bend it only 80 degrees and try to brush your teeth. Or open it to 120 degrees and try using a hair straightener. Getting ready for work is a challenge.
Driving is a challenge. Darn near everything is a challenge except for - thank God - typing. After a while though it does start to hurt a bit but at least I can do it. There's lots of things I can't do with or without pain.
It's annoying.
Offspring #2 is doing well carrying my grandchild. We should know by the end of the month if it's a boy or a girl. My gut still says it's a boy.
Offspring #3 still needs to find a job.
Offspring #1 has met a guy. Fingers crossed.
Anyhow, the pain is starting and it's bedtime anyhow. Five a.m. comes very early.
How are you doing?
