Not Much New

Just wanted to update the ticker real quick. It was absolutely STUCK for nearly 2 weeks. Finally though on Wednesday I dropped a pound. Yesterday? Another pound. And this morning? Yet ANOTHER pound!!

Some of you might think a size 12 jeans is horribly large however I was thrilled on Thursday evening to fit into a size 12 for the first time EVER. Okay well maybe it wasn't the first time ever BUT I remember entering high school in a 14 and leaving in a 16 and it only went up from there. As a result, a size 12 is the most amazing thing to ever happen to me.

And I'm STILL losing!! That's the best part!!!

Nothing much exciting to report in my world. We're gearing up for the holidays. I think today I'm going to start baking. I'm cutting back though this year. My family begs me every year to not bake so much.

This year? I'm listening.

I'm only doing 4 kinds of cookies and I'm not doing triple batches. Then I'm making pumpkin bread and rum cake.

That's it. I used to do about 12 kinds of cookies and 4 kinds of breads. And I made double and triple batches of EVERYTHING. This is a stretch for me. I'll really have to restrain myself. I think it will be okay because I'm entering it with a plan. I just hope I don't start to twitch when I'm all done and feeling like I should make more!!

A Christmas Meme!!!!

Welcome to the Christmas edition of getting to know your friends.

Change all the answers so that they apply to you and post it to your blog.

'Tis the Season to be NICE and KIND to each other.!

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper

2. Real tree or artificial? Artificial. I really dislike the smell of pine.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? A chemistry set. And no, I didn't blow up anything.

7. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes.

11. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail, most of them anyhow. Some get hand delivered at work and stuff.

23.. What I love most about Christmas? Pretty much everything except shopping. I like being home though... even the atmosphere at work is nice.

Bored

I was looking through templates and just couldn't resist this one. It reminds me of my other one but with the twist of winter thrown in. Don't you just love winter? Boy I do.

Yeah.

Right.

Sure I do.

How long till spring?

Summer?

Anyhow, I was inspired by a fellow blogger who put her holiday decorations up at her place. I just had to follow suit.

Anyhow, I like it... for now.

I'm off work today. How nice is that? It's a slow quiet day. I'm enjoying it. It's cold and rainy outside. I made a big pot of soup and just had a mug-ful. It's really good.

PK turned her nose up at it but what else is new? She doesn't eat anything that's good for her.

Oh, the computer place called. My computer will be back in about a week or so. It has to be shipped to somewhere in the western part of the country. The good news is that it's under warranty so I don't have to pay. I am glad of that because with Christmas and all... well you know how it is.

Anyhow, I am bored but I'm certainly not complaining. I like having the time to actually get on here and play around.

Maybe I'll go play a game of euchre on yahoo.

Yeah. That's it.

Euchre.

Okay so I didn't go play euchre but I did find this:

The House is Quiet Again

So how was your holiday? Do other countries celebrate Thanksgiving? I'd love to hear from some of you who aren't from the United States. Do you have a similar holiday? When is it? Is the USA the only country that does Thanksgiving?

Educate me. I'm holiday illiterate!

Anyhow, we had a very nice holiday here. The turkey was the BEST I've ever cooked. EXTREMELY moist and quite tasty too. That stuffing was awesome... Yankee stuffing. It's just your basic stuffing with a pound of sage sausage sauteed and mixed into it. I was worried about how I would handle a holiday but it was fine. I mean if you can't eat, you can't eat. When you're stuffed, you're stuffed. End of story.

We have been decorating.

On Friday Adam and I were home alone while the kids were out doing the black Friday thing. You'd think we would have made good use of the time... well we did... sort of. I mean there was no spanking or sex BUT we did get Adam's Santa Claus collection out. We also put the tree up. Yesterday we put Adam's Christmas village out and today he decorated outside while I worked on decorating the tree. There's still a little to do but hey, it's early. We still have a month to go.

After church today we took the kids to lunch. Immediately after that offspring #3 left to go back to school. For over a week we've had a houseful every evening. Tonight it's quiet. It's nice. Adam is watching TV. I'm here on the computer. Speaking of computers... my kids broke my six month old laptop. It was accidental. Actually I can't even say they broke it. It broke while in their possession. Hopefully it will be fixed under warranty because it's a nearly $300 repair. Excuse me? The dang computer didn't cost a whole lot more than that... $700 I think. Anyhow, it's supposed to be ready by the end of the week. Fingers crossed that they don't call it "abuse" and charge me for it. Seriously that computer has NOT been abused. It's as clean looking as the day I got it... and I NEVER set it down hard or anything. I told the guy I bought it from to look at it... when he said the manufacturer might determine it to be abuse cuz the part that broke off doesn't just fall off... excuse me? It's that little pin in the whole where the power cord goes.

It DID fall off... no one was harsh with it but I might get harsh if they try to make me pay for a repair. I mean come on... that little pin?? $300??? I think they need to find another way to hook up the power in that case!! Sheesh.

Oh well.. I'm just glad I have two computers. Ask PK though... she said she's missing going to bed with Adam and I at night. I miss taking her! I usually email her a good night right before I shut it down and turn out the light.

Let's see... what else is new?

Christmas is coming...whether I like it or not. This year I'm not liking it much. I'm just not in the mood. I'd rather it was summer and I was on another road trip. It's cold in my corner of the world. How about yours? We had a little snow on the ground the other day. Ugh. Have I ever told you that I hate winter??

PK's on my case. She's trying to pressure me into doing something I just can't do. Talk to her, would you? Tell her that I just can't get inspired to write a Fantasy Friday story. I wish that I could. I need an idea. I told her one came to me in the middle of the night but I didn't write it down and now I can't remember what it was. It would have been a good story too!! At least when I was half asleep and the idea came to me I thought it sounded good.

Have you noticed I didn't update the ticker? My weight has stayed steady this week. I can't blame it on the holiday because honest, I didn't eat any more than I would any other time. I think it's just one of those plateau times you hear about with weight loss. It's been long enough though ... I hope I drop a few pounds this week. I mean with PK changing the challenge rules on me every other breath I take NOW is NOT the time to be on a plateau. Sheesh.

So how's your world? Hope your holiday was GREAT and that the upcoming season is truly a blessing in your life!!

Leftover Turkey

Here's my family's favorite leftover Turkey recipe which was inspired by my twin who just posted a recipe also.....

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

Turkey Divan

Open a bag of frozen broccoli and spread into a 9X13 glass baking dish which has been sprayed with cooking spray.

Chunk up 2 cups of leftover turkey into bite sized pieces and spread over broccoli.

Mix together:

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup Helman's mayo (must be real mayo)

2 Tbs. curry powder

2 Tbs. lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste

Mix well and spread over turkey and broccoli.

Sprinkle two cups shredded cheddar cheese over sauce.

Cover with 8 oz. bag of pepperidge farm stuffing crumbs in the blue
bag.

Optional:

Drizzle with one stick melted margerine

Cover with foil. Bake for 45 min. at 350 degrees. This dish is AWESOME with a rice side dish.
